What measurements do I need to check?

Measure your doorways and stairs first. Sounds obvious, but beds get stuck on delivery day more often than you'd think. Then measure where the bed's going leave at least 60cm either side so you're not climbing over it every morning. If you're buying an ottoman, the base lifts upwards, so check your ceiling height. And double-check the mattress size matches the frame. We list internal dimensions for every bed.

How long will it take to be delivered?

Two to four weeks once you've ordered. If you've gone for something made-to-order or a less common fabric, might take six weeks. We'll email you a dispatch date once your bed's being made, then the courier will ring to arrange a time that suits you.

Will I receive the same product that I see in the picture?

You will, but colours look different on your screen compared to real life. We photograph everything in natural light to keep it accurate, but velvet especially can shift a bit depending on how your bedroom's lit. If you're worried about the shade, ask us for a fabric sample. We're happy to post one out.

Luxury Beds

What is the best luxury bed?

Depends what you're after. Luxury means handmade frames, proper upholstery like velvet or linen, deep buttoning, solid timber underneath. Hypnos, Savoir, Vi-Spring — those are the big names in the UK. You're looking at hand-stitched details, natural materials, something that'll last decades if you treat it right. But "best" is personal. What feels luxurious to one person might not suit another.

Why is Drake's bed so expensive?

Drake's bed was made by Hästens, a Swedish company that hand-builds beds using horsehair, cotton, wool, and flax. The whole thing takes months to make — over 160 hours of layering and stitching by hand. That bed cost more than three hundred grand. It's not just about sleeping, it's about craftsmanship and materials you can't get anywhere else. Most of us don't need to spend that much to sleep well, but if you've got the money and you care about it, that's what you're paying for.

What's the most expensive bed in the world?

There's a bed called the Jado Steel Style Gold Bed worth over four million quid. It's made of gold with gemstones stuck all over it. More art than furniture. If you want something you'd actually sleep on, Hästens' Grand Vividus is around a hundred and fifty thousand and it's supposed to be incredible all natural materials, Swedish techniques passed down for generations. But you can get a brilliant bed for a fraction of that.

What bed does the royal family use?

The royals use Hypnos, which has a Royal Warrant. They've been making mattresses for the Palace for years pocket springs, wool, silk, cashmere, all that. The exact models aren't public, but Hypnos beds are known for being breathable, supportive, and well-made. Plenty of other UK brands offer similar quality without the royal connection.

What is the most luxurious bed in the world?

If you're talking about how it feels to sleep on, the Hästens Vividus and Savoir No. 2 are up there. Both use horsehair and natural layers that are all done by hand. They breathe beautifully, mould to your body over time, and last forever. Real luxury isn't about how much you spend — it's about how well you sleep.

Product Questions

What is the difference between a slatted base ottoman and a solid base ottoman?

Slatted bases have wooden slats running across, which lets air flow under your mattress. Good for memory foam or hybrids that need to breathe. Solid bases are one flat surface firmer support, more storage space underneath. They suit pocket sprung mattresses really well. Both types lift up easily with gas struts, but slatted ones are a bit lighter if you're putting it together yourself.

Is a headboard necessary for comfortable sleep?

Not essential, no. But it's nice to have something to lean against if you read in bed, and it stops your pillows sliding off the back. Keeps your wall clean too. A tall upholstered headboard makes the whole room feel more finished. Some people prefer the minimal look without one ottomans and divans work perfectly either way.

How often should I flip my mattress?

Most modern mattresses don't flip; they're built with one sleep surface. But you should rotate them head-to-toe every few months to stop them wearing unevenly. Older double-sided spring mattresses need flipping as well as rotating, every season or so. Check the label stitched into the side — it'll tell you what the manufacturer recommends.

What are the benefits of a divan bed frame?

Divans are solid, quiet, and practical. They sit flat on the floor with a sturdy base that supports your mattress properly. Most have built-in drawers for storing bedding or clothes. No creaking, no wobbling, easier to shift around than a heavy wooden frame. They look clean and unfussy too, which works in smaller bedrooms where you don't want too much clutter.

How long should a divan bed last?

A decent divan base will give you 10 to 15 years, sometimes longer if you look after it. The frame stays solid, though the fabric might show some wear depending on what you've chosen. Drawer runners can be replaced if they start sticking. Your mattress won't last that long you'll replace it once or twice before the base needs changing. Just don't overload the drawers and make sure it's sitting level.

What are the different types of mattresses available?

Pocket sprung mattresses have individual springs that move independently good all-rounder. Memory foam moulds to your body and cuts down on movement if you share a bed. Hybrids combine springs with foam layers, so you get support and comfort together. Orthopaedic mattresses are firmer, often recommended for back pain. Then there's latex and open-coil, though they're less common now. Most people go for pocket sprung or hybrid.

Is TV included with your TV beds?

No, TV beds come with the frame and the lift mechanism, but you buy the telly separately. That way you can pick the size and brand you want. The bed has a motorised system built into the footboard with a remote control, and there's a compartment that holds TVs up to a certain size thirty-two to forty-three inches mostly. Check the specs before you buy your TV so you know it'll fit.

What are the standard bed sizes?

Small Single is 75cm x 190cm. Single's 90cm x 190cm. Small Double's 120cm x 190cm. Double's 135cm x 190cm. King's 150cm x 200cm. Super King's 180cm x 200cm. Some places do Emperor size too 200cm x 200cm but that's pretty rare. Make sure your mattress and frame are the same size, and measure your room properly before ordering anything big.

Divan Beds

What is a divan bed base?

A divan base is a padded platform that sits on the floor. Timber frame wrapped in fabric, built to support your mattress evenly. Most have storage drawers built in, which is why they're so popular here. They're sturdy, quiet, and they look neat. No slats to worry about, no metal frame poking out. Just a solid base.

What is the point of a divan bed?

Storage, mainly. You get drawers or compartments without needing a separate chest or wardrobe. The base lifts your mattress off the floor so it stays dry, and it's low-profile enough that it doesn't dominate a small room. They're easier to move than big wooden frames too, and there's no gap underneath for dust to gather. Just practical furniture that does its job.

Is ottoman or divan better?

Depends how much storage you need. Ottomans have a massive space underneath because the whole mattress lifts up — brilliant for duvets, suitcases, anything bulky. Divans have side drawers that you can access every day without lifting anything. Ottomans win on volume. Divans win on convenience. Both are solid and long-lasting.

Why are divan beds so expensive?

Good ones aren't cheap, but they're not all expensive. The price reflects proper timber, reinforced corners, decent upholstery, and drawer mechanisms that work. Cheaper divans use chipboard and stapled fabric, and they fall apart. A well-made divan lasts ten years or more, supports your mattress properly, doesn't creak when you move. If it's made in the UK, you're paying for better manufacturing standards. Worth it in the long run.
